I did do a bunch of research and ended up building my single carb set up. I went with a Motorcraft 5200 progressive 2 bbl unit. It took some dialing in, but runs well now. I love the progressive 2 bbl because 80-90% of your riding is on the first bbl, but when you want thrown back in the seat, the secondary kicks in and it revs so much quicker.

#1 · Apr 16, 2012 Anyone using a single carb setup on their wing? My carbs are in desperate need of rebuild and to have them done right is over 450$.. I saw a manifold setup on ebay that uses a pict 3 solex 1 barrel, I owned a VW years ago and never had any issues with that carb. Any advice would be appreciated. Sort by Oldest first ding dong

I tryed for a few weeks with their tech-support before they dis-connected their phone and stopped answering their e-mails. I worked with it for 3 months last summer along with Holley Carburetor tech support. It runs ok on the highway, and starts immediatly!

8 83gl1200 9 posts · Joined 2014 #3 · Jul 11, 2014 My 34pict3/diy pvc manifold wasn't any harder or more expensive to do than cleaning the oem carbs and rebuilding and adjusting them. In fact quite the opposite. I'm still at under $100 total for my conversion. $40 for pvc manifold and 40 for used carb off ebay with rebuild kit included.

If everything is ok (and I'm more than sure everything will be ok) I will write a step-by-step report. Maybe this information will be useful for anybody here.
